Self-belief

Self-belief is the internal conviction of ones worth and abilities.  It influences well-being and performance by motivating, affecting resilience, and impacting goal pursuit.

When individuals possess high self-belief, they are more likely to be effortful in endeavors, take realistic risks and make bold, impactful, considered decisions. Self-belief can enhance motivation as individuals enjoy challenges and welcome opportunities to grow.

Individuals with high self-belief are more likely to persist with tasks, bounce back from setbacks, learn from failures and be buffered against self-doubt and fear of failure. High self-belief enables individuals to embrace mistakes as learning opportunities and practice self-compassion.

Self-belief fosters a sense of self-worth and overall mental and emotional well-being, moderating experiences of anxiety and fluctuating mood. Individuals with high self-belief are less likely to be negatively impacted by difficult circumstances, disappointments and losses as their worth is not dependent on external circumstances.

Confident and authentic connections are fostered by high self-belief, as individuals can comfortably be their authentic self around others. Authenticity is generally appreciated in social and professional interactions.  Knowing and trusting themselves, they can also communicate confidently and effectively and set healthy relationship boundaries.

Self-belief is supported by lifestyle choices that promote both physical and emotional balance. Activities such as regular exercise, mindfulness, prioritising quality sleep and maintaining a healthy diet can enhance one’s experience of self-worth, self-belief and overall resilience.
